FLL State Invitational Tournament

Last weekend, the Lightning Botz competed in the First Lego League (FLL) State Invitational Tournament at the Polk State College in Winter Haven.

There was a total of 48 teams competing at this tournament.

This was the Lightning Botz’s first year of competition. Because of their hardwork and efforts, they were invited to the State Tournament, which was their last one this year.

They won first place in Gracious Professionalism at State!

They also received a robotics kit!

Congratulations to the Lightning Botz!

All of the teams had to program a robot to complete challenges. They also had to come up with a research project related to this year’s theme.

This year’s theme was Animal Allies. The teams’ project goals were to come up with a solution for a real-world problem.

Lightning Botz’s research project was based on saving the manatees.

There’s always a dance party at the end, which is definitely the best part (aside from the awards ceremony)!

Once again, congratulations to the Lightning Botz!
